Stay informed about severe storm weather by listening to NOAA weather radio, Commercial radio, and Television for the latest tornado, winter storm, and any other severe weather watches and warnings. Weather service personnel use information from weather radar, trained spotters, and other sources to broadcast severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings, blizzards, ice storms and other unusual and dangerous weather. These warnings are relayed to local emergency management and public safety officials to activate local warning systems to alert communities. Therefore, take cover if you are concerned about the weather conditions. When the warning is lifted there will be an announcement to signal an all clear.
The Fort Lupton Fire Protection District tests the tornado sirens on the first Monday of each month at noon. This test will sound for 30 seconds and will continue throughout the summer months.
NOAA Weather Radio is the best means to receive watches and warnings from the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service recommends purchasing a radio that has both a battery backup and tone-alert features that automatically alerts you when a watch or warning is issued.
